Vitor Belfort was on top of the world following his devastation of Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 133. Lean and trim for his second UFC fight down at middleweight, Belfort exorcised many of the demons from his awful front kick knockout loss at the hands of UFC middleweight king Anderson Silva. At the UFC 133 postfight press conference, he was brimming with confidence and called out the champ.
"If he didn't throw that kick, this would've happened to him. He knows that," Belfort said. "I would like to fight the winner of [Yushin] Okami and Anderson."
Okami and Silva meet later this month at UFC 134. The loss to Silva served as a wake up call. The 34-year-old has renewed vigor.
"I was hungry in the gym. It was even hard to find sparring partners. My speed? I think I'm faster than before," Belfort said. "Some said I was 'vintage Vitor.' I'm telling you in this division, whatever I hit, I make sure that people go down."
Belfort warned other middleweights about standing with him, and don't even try that Anderson front kick.
"Someone in the weight division trades hands with me ... the next time we bring pillows for people," said Belfort. [...] I was part of the past, I'm part of the present and I'm a big part of the future."
Next up for the UFC on the pay-per-view docket is Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. As a Brazilian, Belfort is jacked for the event.
"Bring as many shows as possible to Brazil. We're going to overcome soccer in three years. [...] I'm not a crazy dreamer, this is a reality," said Belfort.
After his rough loss against Silva at UFC 126, Belfort fell pretty far down the ladder, but that doesn't mean he can't back into the hunt quickly. If he produces a few more nasty KO finishes, he's right back in the mix.
It's a good time in the UFC's middleweight division. Belfort can probably turn around quickly, and would be a great fill in there are any injuries before the Chris Leben-Mark Munoz fight in November in England or Chael Sonnen-Brian Stann in October in Houston.
MILWAUKEE -- Ed Herman has put together a fantastic summer, first TKOing Tim Credeur at the Ultimate Fighter finale in less than a minute in June, then submitting Kyle Noke in the first round at UFC on Versus 5 on Sunday.
Noke tried for an early takedown, and after being spun around by Herman, he took top position. Herman took advantage of that position and worked an armbar, but Noke's flexibility showed as he worked out of the tight lock. But Herman was not slowed, as he worked in an inverted heel hook that caused Noke to tap at 4:15 in the first round.

With just five days to go until her highly publicized Aug. 20 wedding to Kris Humphries, Kim Kardashian is seeking advice anywhere she can get it -- especially from her famous friends! Kardashian, who last week asked her Twitter followers to recommend a wedding song, has also requested wedding-related advice from a couple recognizable reality stars.
One of them is Tyra Banks. While the 37-year-old America's Next Top Model host has never been married, she certainly knows fashion -- which is why Kim has asked her to help choose a wedding dress! On the red carpet for the VH1 Do Something Awards on Sunday night, Banks revealed that Kardashian, 30, has asked her to weigh in on her big-day outfit.
"She wants to show me her wedding dress, her two, and help her decide," Banks, 37, told OK! magazine. "So that was flattering. So I think we're gonna do that."
Tyra's two cents? She thinks Kim should pick a gown that's "tight as hell, because she's got those curves and she needs to show everybody just how fine she is when she walks down the aisle." Fair enough!
Kim is also thinking past the wedding -- specifically, to her living arrangements with New Jersey Nets player Humphries, 26. The Beverly Hills-born beauty will now be spending plenty of time on the East Coast -- and fellow California-turned-Jersey girl Coco has reassured her that she'll love the Garden State.
"She's gonna like the seasons and the snowfall to the awesome springs here!" the 32-year-old star of Ice Loves Coco tells E! Online. Plus, she adds, "It's less money than Manhattan and it's 10 minutes away, but you're not paying to live in the city."
Despite Kardashian's very public life, many of the details of Saturday's wedding are being kept private (for now) -- including the guest list!
"Oh, I don't know if I'm invited!" Tyra Banks admitted on Sunday night. "I'm just gonna help pick out the dress."
Kim and Kris's wedding will air as a two-part E! special on October 9 and 10.
