Nine wannabe winners

That was another fabulous race in Hungary, with the top three teams fighting for the win but in every Formula 1 race there are 12 teams and 24 drivers.

I've been taking a look at how some of the smaller teams like Force India and Sauber are faring at the mid-way point of the 2011 season, as well as picking the nine drivers who have impressed me most so far.

Lytle retires with a submission win at UFC on Versus 5

MILWAUKEE -- Chris Lytle ended his MMA career with a bang at UFC on Versus 5 on Sunday night. Just after he announced his retirement, Lytle submitted Dan Hardy in the third round.

The fight started with both fighters throwing big, looping strikes. Both Hardy and Lytle landed clean punches, but both showed off their strong chins. Neither fighter let up as the round wore on. Lytle appeared to land more, but Hardy was never wobbled.

In the second round, the two continued to trade leather. Again, Lytle had a slight advantage, but also sustained a cut. He landed several square shots on Hardy's noggin, and gave him several big bumps.

As Lytle went to his corner for the last time in his career, he smiled at his corner men. He was clearly enjoying his last fight in the UFC.

Blood and spit leaked out of Hardy's mouth in the third round, as he continued to take punishment from Lytle. Hardy still had good movement and was still landing some shots. He tried for a takedown in the final two minutes, but ended up with Lytle on top. Lytle smoothly sunk in a guillotine, and choked Hardy at 4:16 in the third round.

Not a person in the Bradley Center sat as the official decision was read. They booed at the idea that he was leaving MMA.

"I love being a part of the UFC almost more than everything, except one thing, and that's my family. It's time I start putting them first," Lytle said after his win.

No matter what happened, this fight was destined to be special. Lytle announced this weekend that this was his last fight. Always loved by fans for his hold-nothing-back style, Lytle got to have his final fight in the Midwest, just a drive away from his home in Indianapolis. He now gets to leave with a win under his belt.

For Hardy, it was a chance to show that he still belonged in the Octagon. He had been on a three-fight losing skid, starting with losing to Georges St. Pierre in a title bout. It's hard to say what the future will bring for him, but four losses in a row rarely brings longevity.

UFC on Versus 5 picks, Vegas-style: With 125 division on the way, Benavidez wants to keep winning

Joe Benavidez admits he's in a weird position in the 135-pound division. He's lost to UFC champion Dominick Cruz twice, and he won't fight his teammate Urijah Faber. Those are the top three guys in the world at bantamweight. There is hope, though, for Benavidez, who is small for the weight class. His true weight class is coming.

"Yeah, flyweight (125 pounds) is something I think I wouldhave to try. I kind of owe it to myself," Benavidez told MMA Mania. "Everyone thinks I'd just be full of excitement and ready to do it. At one point I'd be like, "wow, I've got a whole 'nother shot. A whole 'nother platform to go win the belt on." But at the same time, then it's gonna be like, 'oh shit, I've got to get down to 125.'"

Benavidez tries to keep his winning ways going at 135 tomorrow in Milwaukee on UFC on Versus 5 against Eddie Wineland. JoeB is giving up five inches in height, as he does in many fights at bantamweight yet that first drop to 125 will be tough.

"Yeah it's definitely gonna be hard but I also feel that I'd be doing what everyone else does which is dieting. I don't diet at all. I'm honestly eating good food, eating ice cream, hamburgers, steaks. I really don't diet at all and I'm walking around at 142 so yeah, it would definitely be something I would have to try if that happened," said Benavidez.

Benavidez also mentions that he was a little disappointed to be left off the televised card. It's the second straight fight that's happened. With an exciting fight, he has a chance to find his way to the telecast, but he's got tough competition on this deep card.

Check out Damon Martin from MMAWeekly.com and Larry Pepe from ProMMARadio.com as they break down the Benavidez-Wineland fight and give some of their best value plays using the Las Vegas betting odds.
