Seth Petruzelli Eyes Bellator Light-Heavyweight Tourney Slot, Wants Gold

Seth PetruzelliUNCASVILLE, Conn. -- In his first fight under the Bellator banner, Seth Petruzelli got the fight he wanted. He forced grappling ace Ricco Rodriguez into a standup fight, where his unorthodox striking game gave Rodriguez fits. It all culminated in a first-round knockout for Petruzelli at Bellator 48.

Given the win, Petruzelli is practically guaranteed another fight in the organization, but the question is at what weight the fight will be. The Saturday night bout was a 230-pound catch weight. Coming up this season is a heavyweight tournament, and the organization hasn't yet finalized the field. He could be a candidate for that, or he could wait until an expected Feb. 2012 start date for the next light heavyweight tourney.

The former UFC fighter said while he would consider any offer, he would prefer to wait and join the 205-pounders.

"I'd really like to get some of my injuries looked at first," Petruzelli told MMA Fighting shortly after the win.

Petruzelli said his right elbow has been bothering him since before he faced Ricardo Romero back at UFC 116 last July. He listed a bursa sac injury, tendinitis and floating bone fragments as issues he would like to address, making a layoff of a few months a proposition he could live with.

"It's a whole bunch of things," he said. "I've been working really hard getting ready for fights, and I'd be more than happy to take a few months off to relax."

Petruzelli's win improved his record to 14-6. It also snapped a 12-fight win streak for Rodriguez.

"I really thought he was going to do nothing but shoot and shoot and shoot," he said. "He shot maybe once and pushed me against the cage one time. It worked out for me. It was a best-case scenario. Everything kind of fell into place. The fight went as perfect as possible."

Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney also told MMA Fighting that Petruzelli would likely be offered a spot in the next light-heavyweight tournament field, though a Feb. 2012 start date is not yet guaranteed.

The current champ is Christian M'Pumbu, but not for long if Petruzelli has things his way.

"That 205 belt is in my future," he said. "I have my eyes on it and my heart set on it."

Ever since they were first announced, the O Music Awards have proudly proclaimed themselves the untraditional alternative to the staid world of red carpets, acceptance speeches and celebrity glad-handing.

And for further proof of that point, consider the following: Though the inaugural O Music Awards won't premiere until April 28, the first award will be handed out on Monday at 4 p.m. ET ... and it's a big one.

For weeks, fans have been voting for the Most Innovative Music Video through the O Music Awards official site, and on Monday — in a roundtable debate moderated by MTV News' James Montgomery — a winner will be crowned.

The O Music Awards Debate for the Most Innovative Music Video, presented by FUZE®, will stream live on OMusicAwards.com and MTV.com. Joining Montgomery around the table will be acclaimed video director Wayne Isham, Mashable's Brenna Ehrlich and some super-secret celebrity guests.

The Black Eyed Peas, Ke$ha, My Chemical Romance and more will also take part in the discussion about just what makes a video truly innovative, and the folks who are nominated for the award — a list that includes Arcade Fire, Robyn, OK Go and Andy Grammer — will also Skype in to make the case for why their video deserves to be named Most Innovative.

On Monday morning, the original list of 10 nominees will be whittled down to the top five vote-getters, and then, during the debate, our roundtable and the Internet audience will cut that list down to the final three. At the very end, we'll announce the winner of the very first O Music Award for Most Innovative Video.

The inaugural O Music Awards will stream live from Las Vegas at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT on OMusicAwards.com. Tune in to see who will reign supreme in categories like Most Viral Dance, Funniest Music Short and NSFW Music Video!

Amputee Receives A Special Mermaid Tail

For those of you who are tired of hearing about the Kardashian wedding (me!), check out this video of a double amputee whose life has been changed thanks to a special prosthetic tail. Nadia lost both of her legs due to a medical condition at the age of four. Since sports were out of the question, she immersed herself in swimming, telling other kids she was a mermaid. Years later her dream of becoming an actual mermaid (well kind of) came true when she wrote a letter to the Weta Workshop in New Zealand, Peter Jackson's specialty costume studio.  Special effects geniuses made Nadia a custom prosthetic mermaid tail so she would be able to swim, well, like a mermaid. Okay, I'll admit it, I started tearing up when they showed her swimming in the ocean with that music swelling. Take that Kardashian wedding cake! [Dooby Brain]

On Thursday (January 7), the U.K.'s Royal Mail unveiled a series of 10 new stamps, honoring the most iconic album covers of the past 40 years.

The albums featured in the new series are the Rolling Stones' Let It Bleed, Led Zeppelin's IV, David Bowie's The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells, The Clash's London Calling, New Order's Power, Corruption and Lies, Primal Scream's Screamadelica, Pink Floyd's The Division Bell, Blur's Parklife and — the most recent album on to make the cut — Coldplay's A Rush of Blood to the Head.

Meant to honor "the most potent graphic images of modern times, many of which have provided a visual soundtrack to people's lives," the series is the end result of a lengthy research process by the Royal Mail, who looked through thousands of album covers by British artists before deciding on the final list. And, during a Wednesday night BBC Radio broadcast, it was revealed that the queen herself actually approved each design.

Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page — who helped design the cover for IV — was on hand to celebrate the release of the stamps and recalled the mysterious nature of the album's iconic imagery.

"Almost 40 years after the album came out, nobody knows the old man who featured on the cover, nor the artist who painted him," he said. "That sort of sums up what we wanted to achieve with the album cover, which has remained both anonymous and enigmatic at the same time."

Of course, any great honor is befitting of an equally great contest, so, on the same day the stamps were made available to the general public, Coldplay decided to give one of their Rush of Blood stamps away. In a message on their official site, the band held a contest to send one lucky fan "a letter using a Coldplay stamp, postmarked with today's issue date."

"We visited our local post office earlier today and bought some of the Coldplay stamps," the message read. "Very nice they are too."

Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj And Ke$ha 'Till The World Ends' Remix Leaks

Reworked tune features an opening verse by Minaj as Ke$ha sings atop Spears' vocals throughout the song.

Britney Spears isn't the only pop titan dancing until the world ends: Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha have joined forces to add a new spin on an all-female remix of Femme Fatale's second single, "Till the World Ends."

The reworked dance anthem, which leaked online Friday (April 22), appears to have surfaced earlier than expected as noted by a series of countdowns on all three of the stars' websites.

Mixing the dance tune's original sonic swirls with heavier bass, Britney tourmate Minaj starts off the remix by throwing down an aggressive verse, in which she calls out a female hater: "A-A-A-A-A-AYE!/ Chimpanzees is hatin', but I take it all in stride/ Put her in a jungle with bananas on the side/ Told you they'd revive your career, but somebody lied/ I ain't talkin' poultry when I say this chicken's fried."

After Minaj spits a few introductory bars, Spears delivers the song's first verse before an introduction for the all-star trio. "It's Britney, bitch. I'm Nicki Minaj and that's Ke$ha!" the Young Money MC proclaims.

Ke$ha, who originally wrote the track for the pop princess, takes part in singing the club-ready track's chorus. Spears soon takes back control of the song as Ke$ha shadows the singer's lines toward the end of the second verse and bridge. Unlike the original version, the "Till the World Ends" remix also features a stuttering dubstep dance break.

News of a star-studded collaboration was hinted earlier this week when producer Dr. Luke tweeted, "@NICKIMINAJ killed it tonight!!!! thanks!!!"
